Troy Gagliardo Bio – Chef and Media Personality

troy-103-kbTroy Gagliardo is a self-taught chef and former restaurateur that has parlayed his years of kitchen experience into many other culinary ventures. Including designing and developing his all-grilled restaurant concepts, a proprietary spice line, cookbook, commercials, food styling, cooking/restaurant columns, endorsements, artisan bacon products, cooking classes, and live appearances.

Troy is the Executive Chef of Green Room Restaurant & Bar in Greenville, SC and the soon to be opened Wu’s Cajun Sea Food in Charlotte, NC. He is also the Executive Corporate Chef for the Charlotte Based restaurant group, The Bottle Cap Group.

Chef Troy has appeared in national commercials with NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. and joined him for his media tour day just days before Dale Jr. won his second Daytona 500 to start the 2014 NASCAR season. Most recently Troy made two live appearances on the Fox Network in NYC on the Fox and Friends Weekend morning show; showcasing his twist on southern cuisine to a national audience. Chef Troy will be participating in the Charleston Food & Wine Festival March of 2017.

He has been a guest on the Very Vera Show in Augusta, GA and Conversations with Jeff Weeks in Pensacola, FL. Chef Troy was recently the guest celebrity chef for PBS-WSRE Food and Wine Fundraiser for 2016 in Pensacola Beach, FL. He can also be seen in the premiere episode of season four of the award-winning PBS show, “A Chef’s Life” with Vivian Howard.

In addition to his many appearances, Troy donates his time and expertise to many charities including; Driven to Give for the Dale Earnhardt, Jr Foundation, the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation, Daniel’s Grace and most recently participated in the Fish Stew Rescue which raised funds to help Hurricane Matthew victims also in conjunction with Chef Vivian Howard.

For the past ten years, Chef Troy has been the weekly host of “Troy’s Everyday Eats” on WCCB Charlotte/The CW morning show News Rising. Each week Chef Troy teaches his unique style of food with a simple approach directed toward the home-cook/viewer. His feature on News Rising began in August of 2006, and since has become the most anticipated part of the show. During that time Troy has prepared well over one thousand of his creative original recipes live on-air

Chef Troy teamed up with The Fresh Market as a sponsor for “Troy’s Everyday Eats” in April of 2011. Troy shops each week at The Fresh Market for the ingredients used on the show, he says, “The Fresh Market sponsorship is something I have pursued for a long time.”

Chef Troy has created and developed a feature food segment for WCCB Charlotte called “Chef Spotlight” which features local area restaurants and their chefs. Chef Spotlight is filmed on location to showcase both the food and the atmosphere of each restaurant.

The Chef Troy spice line is available on his website www.cheftroy.net and in the Charlotte/Lake Norman, including 30 locations of The Fresh Market. Troy states, “I designed the Spice Mix, which I call a home cooks secret weapon, to be used literally on everything, and to use it exclusively at my restaurants. The Back Rub was designed specifically for pork barbecue and ribs but I soon discovered its versatility by using it on steaks, seafood, vegetables and wild game as well.” Outside of the spice business Troy has partnered with long time country ham producer the Goodnight Brothers in Boone, NC to produce his own line of artisan bacon products.

Warren Publishing published Chef Troy’s cookbook in mid-2015, entitled “Pseudo Southern-a playful twist on the art of southern cooking”, it is available regionally at Barnes and Noble, on Amazon.com and www.cheftroy.net

“Pseudo Southern” has been endorsed by celebrity chef, Bravo TV’s Top Chef Alum, restaurateur and best-selling author Fabio Viviani. Chef Fabio said of Pseudo Southern “Southern food is my second home. It’s as close to my heart like Italy is, and that is why I love Troy’s recipes so much. They remind me of the childhood I would have had if I was born in the south”.

A winner of James Beard, Emmy and Peabody awards for her PBS show “A Chef’s Life” Chef Vivian Howard, who is also chef/owner of Chef and the Farmer and The Boiler Room and NY Times best-selling author, had this to say, “Troy’s take on southern food is just left of center, fun, and refreshing. His recipes are approachable riffs on our regions’ specialties that even the most jaded cook will be intrigued to try.”

Chef Troy is also a free-lance food writer for the Charlotte Observer and Lake Norman Magazine.
