- 2 Cups-All Purpose Flour
- 2 Teaspoons-Baking Powder
- ½ Teaspoon-Baking Soda
- 2 Teaspoons-Salt
- 8 Tablespoons/1 Stick-Unsalted Butter-very cold
- 1 Cup-Buttermilk/Whole Milk/2% Milk
- 3 Tablespoons-Unsalted Butter-melted
Directions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees, with rack in center of oven.
- Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and until well combined.
- Cut butter into small pieces and work into flour mixture with tines of a fork.
- Mash butter into flour until only small pea sizes pieces remain.
- Add milk, begin to combine, once dough comes together place on flour board and fold together 5/6 times.
- Flatten dough and shape to even thickness over entire surface, about 1” thick.
- Use a floured 4” biscuit cutter and cut out biscuits.
- Reshape remaining dough, folding over a few times to 1” thick, use biscuit cutter or knife to cut out biscuits.
- Place biscuits on unfloored or ungreased backing sheet.
- Place in oven and bake until golden and fluffy, about 10-13 minutes.
- Brush with melted butter and serve.
