Fresh Tomato-Garlic-Basil Sauce

  • 1 Can-Diced Tomatoes
  • ¾ Cup-Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 5 Cloves-Ounces-Fresh Garlic-sliced thin
  • 1 Ounce-Basil-leaves only-rough chopped
  • To Taste-Kosher Salt/Black Pepper


  1. Place tomatoes in a strainer and allow to drain while preparing the garlic.
  2. Place oil and sliced garlic in a small pot and place over high heat.
  3. As soon as oil begins to bubble remove from heat and allow to cool.
  4. While oil/garlic is cooling, crush tomatoes {while still over strainer} by hand into small pieces.
  5. Place crushed tomatoes in a mixing bowl and save tomato juices for another use.
  6. When the oil/garlic is completely cool add to bowl with tomatoes.
  7. Add basil and season with salt/pepper.
  8. Use immediately or store in refrigerator until ready to use, up to 5 days.

This is an uncooked sauce, it is only heated when ready to be used.
